Batu Caves a popular attraction located about 13 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur. It is a limestone hill that features a series of caves and cave temples that are considered to be one of the most sacred Hindu sites outside of India. The most notable feature of Batu Caves is the large golden statue of Lord Murugan, a Hindu deity, which stands at 140 feet tall and is the largest statue of its kind in the world. To reach the temple, visitors must climb 272 steps that lead to the main cave entrance. Inside the caves, visitors can find numerous Hindu shrines and statues, as well as a variety of macaque monkeys that are known to inhabit the area. The caves are also home to various species of bats and other wildlife.
